New here and a little confused?!

Don't panic. Here are the answers to the questions pretty much everyone asks at the beginning.

📅How do I build my timetable?

In theory, you build your timetable via SPUR. In practice, everything important will be shown to you during the introductory events. So no need to stress about it before your first day. Just arrive relaxed, we'll explain the rest!

📍Where do I even have to go?

If you study Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Informatics, you'll be at FIDS, Bajuwarenstraße 4.

If you study Media Informatics or Information Science, you'll start directly on the university campus.

You'll find the exact details for your start on the faculty website.

And if you're on site and can't find your room: UR Walking is your best friend!

🫣I don't know anyone and I'm a bit nervous. What now?

Don't worry, you're definitely not alone! That's exactly why the student council organizes lots of fresher events where you can meet other people from your degree program in a relaxed way.

We especially recommend our freshers' cabin weekend. Even if you're more introverted or don't know anyone yet: it's really worth coming along! You'll quickly meet other freshers and can quiz older students with all your questions and pick up lots of study tips.

😰I'm afraid of missing out on something!

Then definitely join our WhatsApp community and our Discord server. That's where we keep you posted about events and everything important.

There are also various fresher chats where you can talk directly with your fellow students and ask questions. And don't worry: there are no stupid questions. Five other freshers are probably wondering the exact same thing right now.

🎒What should I bring on my first day?

Actually not that much!

  • 💻Laptop: Handy, but not a must. If needed, you can do the most important things on your phone at first.
  • 💧Water bottle: A long uni day makes you thirsty.
  • 🍝Money for lunch: In case you're heading to the canteen.
  • 🎓Student ID: If you've already received it, best to pack it.
  • ✨And of course good vibes and a little excitement!

That's really all you need to start. Don't stress and just arrive — the rest will fall into place faster than you think.
